Nicholas Harms

My name is Nicholas Harms, but you can just call me Nick. I am an intern from Merrimack College in their CMHC Masters program. I have worked with clients that have substance use disorders (SUD) as well as those struggling with mental health in group settings where I provided an abundance of psychoeducational material. The material that I felt most comfortable teaching was information about relationships, much of it focusing on de-escalation and understanding love languages. I work in the Concord office and offer in-person as well as telehealth. I work Tuesday-Thursday from 9AM-5PM.

I tend to take a person-centered approach when listening to people talk about issues they are having, so I try to meet people where they are at mentally. As prior U.S. Army 11b (Infantryman), I was taught to keep moving forward even when it is hard which has lead me to lean into the acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) modality.

In addition to being in the Army, my medical and blue collar experiences also provide me with a deeper understanding as to some of the struggles these jobs carry with them. I would love to work with veterans, first responders, blue collar workers, and anyone who wants to better understand themselves or their situation.
