Shaylene Wallace-Borden
Hello, and welcome! I am an LMSW-cc that graduated from The University of New England in 2019 with a Masters degree in Social Work. I am passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 25) as they navigate the unique challenges of growing and finding their place in the world. Whether you're a young person struggling with anxiety, depression, identity, or life transitions—or a caregiver seeking support for your child—I offer a compassionate, collaborative space for healing and growth.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strengths-based practice, while also drawing from psychodynamic theory to explore deeper patterns and emotional experiences. I incorporate play therapy and arts-based therapies to meet clients in creative, developmentally appropriate ways—especially with children and teens who may express themselves more freely through play or artistic expression.
I believe every young person has innate resilience and potential. My role is to help uncover and nurture those inner strengths, while providing practical tools and emotional insight to foster well-being and self-understanding.
Together, we’ll work at your pace, in a way that feels safe and respectful of your unique story.
I am currently offering telehealth and in person sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our Durham location.
